Get ready for this… A whopping 93% of businesses say they’ve won over a new customer thanks to a video they posted on social media. The age of adding photos to our social media pages, websites, and blogs isn’t over, but video quickly swept in and created a stronghold in the marketing arena.

That means if you’re consistent about popping a video on your feed, you’re likely to gain at least one new customer. Pretty good, right? Let’s see what else the social media marketing trends say about the power of video.

If you’re running your company’s social media activities, then you’re going to be super concerned about engagement. And one thing’s for sure. You’re going to engage a lot more users with a short video that a blob of text.

Whether you’re a top-level exec or an intern, you’re more likely to click on a ten-second video and digest information that way than a lengthy piece of content.

Properly tagged videos are indexed well by search engines. Better yet, as you’re ranking well, those search engines may even post a tiny thumbnail with more grabbing information.

Also, consider movie trailers. Nobody likes to read about Tom Cruise’s latest action flick. Rather, they want to watch him jump across skyscrapers and sail helicopters through mountain ranges. Videos get right to the point, demonstrate how beautiful and beneficial your product is, and send people sailing straight to your website to buy more.

Video and mobile phones are having a major love affair. If anyone out there commutes, they’re probably sitting on the train scrolling through Facebook or Instagram and watching short video clips. It’s a great way to spend time when you have nothing on the agenda (and even when you do have something on the agenda).

If a website isn’t optimized for mobile devices, it’s not going to rank well. So, this takes us back to pleasing the almighty Google. If you have to be optimized for mobile, go ahead and walk the extra mile to post a short video from time to time; all your followers who are digesting your content on their cellphones are likely to click on that fun little video you just posted this afternoon.
